Deals and Vouchers

At the end of August the long awaited Deals and Vouchers module was released and announced via the Inside the RnD Labs newsletter. What exactly is it, what does it do and why should you use its features on your website?

Put simply, Deals and Vouchers allows you to add a variety of deals to your current catalogue. increase brand awareness, gain traffic, clear slow moving stock and boost product segments to boost the bottom line. In today’s column I’m going to breakdown some of the most commonly used deals by online retailers that are available via the module so you can suss which ones would work for your business.

Incorporating Deals

Flat Amount Off

One of the most common deals is to specify a flat dollar amount off a product, a set of products or the entire inventory. If your online store has an average order total of, say, $100 you set up another deal that rewards the customer with a $10 gift discount on their next order. That will hopefully convert into another sale.

Percentage Off

Another standard is a percentage off deal such as “10% off your order” (a product, set of products or entire catalogue) which is ideal for online stores with an average order above $100. Percent off deals encourage customers to make a larger order to maximise the deal value.

The minimum Spend

With this deal, you are assuring yourself of a certain order total before the discount (or free item) is applied. You can test this on a certain item or category of products to see what works best with your customers. Example; spend $150 and get a free item.

X for the price of Y Buy 2 for $5. Simple, to the point and a great way to get rid of excess stock. Easy.

There are several ways to reach your clients with your deal - promotion is an integral part of Deals and Vouchers. You can have a website wide promotion where you can automatically take a certain % off the entire range. Alternatively you can generate a code that you send to select customers (via eMarketing)
